Explore a Sea of Unseen Colours and Unravel Marine Mysteries at the S.E.A. Aquarium

Discover the ocean’s cycle of renewal in spring at the S.E.A. Aquarium through plankton – free floating organisms that are integral to marine ecosystems.

Learn about plankton – free floating organisms which help to sustain other marine inhabitants – in a Sea of Unseen Colours;

From 1 April to 21 May 2023, step into a Sea of Unseen Colours and learn how plankton help to sustain other marine inhabitants including manta rays, sea jellies and corals. At four different habitats, get in-depth insights into these tiny life forms and watch them come to life through augmented reality, such as fun Instagram filters and games, as well as cute and colourful illustrations by Singaporean artist Almostasthma.

Visitors should also not miss a fun photo moment with the S.E.A. Aquarium’s beloved manta mascots, Manja, Mika and Mako.

Those with a nose for solving mysteries can put their sleuthing skills to the test with the Junior Ocean Detective programme. Taking on the role of “trainee detectives”, children aged 7 to 12 will be guided on a two-hour investigative trail at the S.E.A. Aquarium to unravel marine-animal mysteries.

Equipped with their handy detective toolkit, participants will solve five cases revolving around the different types of interactions between marine life and the importance of these interactions in the marine ecosystem. For example, they will learn why the cleaner wrasse and moray eel live like housemates or the adverse impact on ocean ecology if shark numbers decrease.

Children will also get the chance to meet an aquarist during a back-of-house visit and understand the importance of marine conservation.

The Junior Ocean Detective programme is available on weekends from 25 March to 21 May 2023. Participants can choose from two sessions per day, from 10am to 12pm or 2pm to 4pm.
